17 Things to Make You Smile

Happy Sunday! I hope you are enjoying a great day full of Jesus and family. What do you typically do on a Sunday?

Today I wanted to brighten your spirits! We all need a reason to smile sometimes. We can all use a little happiness in our busy and often stressful lives. Sometimes we get caught up in the chaos and the problems in our lives and forget to be happy and to remember the little things. That’s why I wanted to share 17 simple and easy ways to get your smile front and center!

  1. Buy yourself a new lipstick- A new lipstick always brightens my day and brings a smile to my face. How about you?
  2. Take a moment and read a chapter of the Bible- I suggest any of the Psalms, Exodus 14, or a chapter in Matthew.
  3. Stop and look at the flowers…literally- Sometimes even a glance at something beautiful like flowers can cause a smile on a hard day.
  4. Write a kind note to someone else- Remember that we aren’t the only ones that have hard days. So to cause a smile, try giving someone else some kindness!
  5. Take a walk and see Gods creation- When life is stressful, go for a walk and take a look around at God’s brilliant and beautiful creation. It always makes me smile.
  6. Have a Netflix marathon of your favorite funny movie or show- There is nothing in life that a Psych marathon or a few episodes of Everybody Loves Raymond can’t fix. Grab a snack, a blanket, and a crack a smile while laughing and enjoying your favorite show.
  7. Buy yourself a new outfit- Sometimes we need to spoil ourselves, so when life is tough go buy a new outfit and smile—show the world you’re in control.
  8. Pay it forward- Buy someone’s coffee or lunch! Spread smiles and happiness to others even when life is hard for us.
  9. Create something- If you paint—paint. If you make cards—make a card. If you write—write! Create something and I bet you will smile.
  10. Read a new book- For me, reading a new book (or a classic favorite) always tends to put a smile on my face.
  11. Take some time to yourself- Go get a manicure, a massage, or go have lunch on your own. Take a few moments to yourself to gather your thoughts and to relax.
  12. Have a worship service in your room- For me, nothing makes me happier than a worship session alone in my car or my room. God’s presence never fails to put life in perspective.
  13. Drink out of a fancy glass- Maybe this won’t make everyone smile, but it does me! There is nothing better than sipping tea out of a fancy wine glass.
  14. Spend time with loved ones- Show your family some love. Crack some jokes and love on each other.
  15. Talk with an accent- Some of the biggest smiles happen because my sister and I talk in fake accents while doing housework.
  16. Be intentional- Smile by being intentional. Love others, be caring, and have fun in life.
  17. Order a Venti instead- treat yourself and order a big coffee on those crazy mornings and smile because at least you have coffee!

Those are just a few ideas of things to do to make you smile. There is always something to smile about even on our darkest days. Jesus is always a reason to smile and have hope. If you don’t know about Jesus or salvation, I’d love to talk to you about it!

Hello friends! I hope your week went well, and if not, cheer up-it’s still the weekend! For today,  I thought I would share my birthday wishes. The favorite products and things I’ve been wanting be for my birthday!

Thursday, I’ll be another year older. I’ve always loved celebrating my birthday, I mean, who doesn’t right? It’s funny how our favorites and wishes change as we age. I went from asking for my favorite doll to my favorite purse. One things for sure, I’ve always been a girly girl. And my wishlist shows it. So here are my fav items that are on this years birthday wishlist!

Kiss Pillow in gold from At Home// Have you ever heard of At Home? It’s incredible. I love it. It is for all things home; from frames to side tables they have everything and they are fairly reasonably priced. This pillow would look ah-mazing in my room, just saying!

Swamp Queen Palette by Tarte// Grav3yardgirl aka Bunny is a popular YouTube personality who is quirky and love-able. She is not afraid to be crazy and herself. Bunny is a great influence for people because she is always supporting being yourself. Tarte and Bunny did a beautiful face palette collab and I want it. It is at the tip top of my list. They are gorgeous shades that look exactly like what I want to wear.

Cedar Street Rose Maise by Kate Spade// spoiler alert…I may have just ordered this as a gift to myself. BUT it was already on sale plus another 30% off and free shipping, so I had too, right? Happy Birthday to me!

Harry Potter Clue// yes, it’s actually a thing! I recently saw this at my local Barnes & Noble and knew I just had to ask for it. Clue was always my favorite board game and I love HP just as much; the two combined are just a match made in heaven. I love a good ole family game night and I hope I can play this soon! (hint hint mom…)

Gold mirrors from Walmart// I am currently redoing my room and adding some more sophisticated touches to it; including all things gold. I found these mirrors at Walmart and I fell in love with them. I have a wall of frames and canvases and these would look perfect spread throughout them!

My Top 5: Worship Songs for Easter Sunday

Hello all! We are approaching Easter Sunday and as a worship leader, I always want the songs I lead to mean something. So I thought I would share my top 5 worship songs that are great songs with incredible meanings that are great for Easter (and really any time). I believe that worship music should not just be fluffy songs that make us feel good but songs that truly lead us into the presence of God. Easter is one day we try to acknowledge Christ and what He did for us, but we should be doing that everyday. So that being said, these are great Easter songs, but also incredible every day songs. Enjoy!

1. Forever by Kari Jobe

This song. It is so anointed. The words are truth and beautiful and I can’t help but worship every time I hear it. While this song is an incredible song to lead at any time, it is perfect for Easter. The song goes through the crucifixion and the resurrection of our Lord. This is not a song you can simply sing, it is a song that needs to be shouted and proclaimed to the Lord. “The Resurrected King has rendered you DEFEATED.”

If you haven’t heard it, here is a link to the live version of the song.

2. Alive by Natalie Grant

Alive was written as a part of “The Story” and is the song of Mary Magdalene. This song paints a vivid picture of what she would have seen/thought that morning when she found Jesus outside the tomb. The lyrics are powerful and meaningful. This song has a lot of words but everyone of them reminds you of what Jesus did for us that day. “Hallelujah Risen Lord, the only one I fall before.”

Here is a link to Natalie Grant singing Alive.

3. O the Blood by Gateway Worship

This song is a beautiful song actually sung by Kari Jobe; it gives us a beautiful picture of what Jesus’ blood did for us. It’s a great reminder about what had to happen for us to have eternal life. The blood is our victory. Because of the blood, we have salvation and relationship with God. “O the blood, of Jesus, washes me.”

Here is a link to the live version of this song.

4. At the cross (love ran red) by Passion/Chris Tomlin

“Where your love ran red, and my sin washed white…I owe all to you.”

This song just like the others, creates a picture of what Easter is truly about. I first heard this song at camp and I have loved it since. It is powerful and it reminds me of why I worship and why I have any meaning at all. “Here my hope is found.” Our hope is in Christ alone.

Here is a link to Chris Tomlin singing it for you to check out, you won’t be sorry.

5. Great are you Lord by All sons and daughters

Oh ASAD, you are so great. I am a big fan of their vocals but also their lyrics. They are real and raw. This song is great for Easter because I think it once again gives us perspective of what Easter is about. “Great are you Lord” focuses on giving God the glory back and what Christ is to us. This song is an anthem and a proclamation that we want to pour out our praise to Christ alone. “All the Earth will shout your praise!”

This video is so good, if you have never heard this song, please take a look.

As Good Friday and Easter approach, I encourage you to look at some of these songs and just set your heart right. I want you to experience the presence of God every day not just one day at church. These songs might make you want to shout, cry, or fall to your knees. Let God move in you and through you.

As always, let me know what you think about these songs.
