5 makeup hacks for the girl who’s always running late

Girl, I know you probably hit the snooze a few times and are now running late to work. Maybe you woke up on time but want to leave early so you have time to run and get an iced chai latte on the way to work. Been there, do that often. There are many days, my makeup routine gets pushed to the side for just a few more minutes of sleep or a few sips of coffee. Days like those are when you need a few makeup hacks up your sleeve.

However, if you’re also like me, you need to look presentable at your job and no makeup isn’t always an option you’re comfortable with on workdays. I’ve compiled some makeup tips for the girl who like me is always running late in the morning. Here are 5 makeup hacks for the girl who’s always running late.

5 makeup hacks for the girl who’s always running late

#1 Invest in a full-coverage foundation (powder is even faster)

The blemishes and unevenness of my skin tone is usually my biggest concern when needing to get some makeup on my face on those running late mornings. So my biggest piece of advice is to invest in a good full-coverage foundation that you can apply easily and quickly. I love the #2 Use white or pale nude liner in your waterline to open your eyes

I first learned of this trick years ago from Emily on Youtube. She always recommended wearing a pale nude or white liner in your bottom waterline to help open your eyes. And if you’re like me and running late because you overslept…then you’ll definitely need some help making your eyes look more wide and awake.

I typically loved using the Wet n Wild Brow Highlighter crayon for this but you can’t really find it anymore. So I’ve been searching for a new alternative and have been using various other white or nude eyeliners. Creamy crayon or gel works the best for me. The pictures below are some examples of me wearing that light eyeliner in the bottom waterline.

#3 Small palettes are your best friend

Those days that I am running late, I tend to grab a couple of makeup items or use the makeup items I keep in my purse in the parking lot when I get to work. That means I don’t have time to use lots of specific items so I tend to use my smaller palettes on those crazy mornings. Tarte sells a few smaller face palettes that I’ve used many, many times that come with a bronzer, blush, and highlighter in one palette. Many places sell these and they are perfect for grabbing and using on the go. It allows you to do a quick full face with only one palette and a foundation and you’re done as far as face makeup goes.

#4 Know your “must-haves”

Some people won’t feel ready without their brows done, others will prioritize their foundation or their mascara. Another great hack is to know your must-haves in makeup so you know what to prioritize when you’re running late and only have a few minutes to get ready. for me, right now, I prioritize covering any spots and never skin tone. When my skin is clearer, I would rather take the time to add a little blush and mascara. Your “must-haves” can change depending on what your life and preferences are at the time.

Right now, I prefer to take the time to put on a little foundation or powder above eyeshadow or brows. Even if it washes me out some, I’d rather have my skin tone even compared to my spots showing. It is important to know what you want done the most, and focus on that with the little bit of time you do have!

#5 Invest in a one and done brow product

Many ladies out there use multiple products on their brows, sometimes I do as well. However, when I’m running late, I tend to use one product that works well on my brows without needing another product. I’m currently loving the Tarte Busy Gal Brows which is a tinted brow gel. This allows me to brush through my brows, add in color, and even out my brows all in one product.

I notice with a pencil I sometimes will need to use a clear gel or something over it but with something like a tinted gel, I can use one product and go. It took me a little practice to make sure I applied it evenly, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll be golden. It might not be a perfect makeup hack for everyone but for me, it helps me save some time when I’m trying to do a quick makeup look on the go.

So what makeup hacks would you consider for those on-the-go mornings when you’re running late. For more makeup tips, check out these other posts.
