Hello friends! Since I’ve been doing my own version Blogmas for a few years now…it gets hard to find posts. There are only so many times I can tell you my favorite Christmas movies and recipes. I mean you shouldn’t have to read the same type of posts with no variation every year. While I was looking for some new post ideas I saw this fun Christmas Tag.
I first saw this tag done by Stressy Mama who is a UK blogger- make sure you check out her post here. I’m sure more bloggers have done this tag but Sam is the first blogger I saw doing this specific Christmas tag. Sit back as I answer a few Christmas centered questions. I’d love to hear your answers so leave them in the comments below. And if you’re a blogger, do this tag as well!
What’s your favorite Christmas Movie?
How do I pick just one? I love Christmas movies- they just bring me so much joy! I have a post on all my favorite Christmas movies you can see here. But I’d have to say…maybe I’ll be Home for Christmas or Christmas with the Kranks? It’s so hard to decide! There are so many good ones! I even love some of the cheezy Hallmark Christmas Movies as well.
Have you ever had a white Christmas?
I can clearly remember maybe one white Christmas. I’m sure there might have been more…but there is one that I remember well. My grandparents from Florida were in town and we got a TON of snow. I loved it. I love snow even though we don’t get much here in OK anymore…it seems to be mainly ice. But a white Christmas is always special.
Where do you usually spend your holiday?
Due to our recent losses, our Christmas traditions have been a little different. Growing up we always did presents at my parent’s house then went to my grandparent’s house for breakfast. Then we would finish off the day at a movie. That’s basically what we still do but my grandpa just stays with us. Occasionally we will go out of town for Christmas as well. Last year we went to Branson and I’ve spent a couple of Christmases in Florida.
What is your favorite Christmas song?
Another hard choice. But I would say the Season of Love by 4Him would probably be my absolute favorite one. I grew up with that song every year. I originally listened to it on cassette tape. It is a great song! If you’ve never heard it, you need to!
Do you open any presents on Christmas Eve?
No! Well, just one…but it’s always Christmas pajamas. They’re always wrapped but we know exactly what they are just not necessarily what they look like. We’ve never been allowed to open any presents on Christmas Eve other than the pajamas…I kinda like it that way. Everyone has their own traditions but that is ours!
Can you name all of Santa’s reindeer?
Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donder, Blitzen, Rudolph, right? Don’t you know the song? Although most of my life, I’m pretty sure I thought it was Donald, not Donder.
What holiday traditions are you looking forward to this year?
Well, 2020 is kinda ruining most plans so I’m not really sure what Christmas will look like this year. So I guess I’m looking forward to seeing what kind of different “traditions” we will make this year.
Is your Christmas tree real or fake?
Fake. Always fake. My sister is highly allergic to real trees…even wreaths so we avoid all real things so she can stay breathing, haha! 🙂
What is your all-time favorite holiday treat/food/sweet?
Well, I love my mom and sister’s homemade hot chocolate. And my mom’s spiced tea. Other than that we don’t really have any specific “Christmas” foods. We do make cranberry salad sometimes because we want more than we got at Thanksgiving.
Be honest, do you like giving or receiving gifts better?
Both? While I’ll admit that I like receiving gifts…I also get a lot of joy out of giving them as well. I can barely keep secrets, especially when it is a good gift. I’ve spilled the beans a time or two.
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
My parents provided me some amazing gifts that I rarely ever deserved. However, I would have to say my Toy Poodle, Malachi. My dad walked in one Christmas Eve with a tiny white fluff ball in his pocket. That tiny fluff turned into a slightly larger fluff ball that we referred to as Mali, Malachi, or Little Bubbas.
What would be your dream place to visit for the holiday season?
I’d LOVE to visit Ireland or Germany for Christmas. More on that to come in a few days on my Holiday Bucket List post. Stay tuned!
Are you a pro present wrapper or do you fail miserably?
I would have to say I’m in between. My sister and mom are amazing at wrapping, like so amazing! I wouldn’t say I fail miserably…but I’m definitely no pro!
Most memorable Christmas moment?
Like I mentioned above, my parents surprised us with a puppy on Christmas Eve…so that is probably the most memorable moment that I can think of.
What made you realize the truth about Santa?
I actually don’t ever really remember finding out that Santa wasn’t real. For most of my life, I got “Santa presents” from my parents and we always made jokes about dad being Santa. I do know I believed in Santa for some of my childhood. But finding out he wasn’t real wasn’t some big, scarring moment. I don’t even remember it!
What makes the holidays special for you?
My family. That would have probably been my answer a few years ago…but now even more so. Life is so short and you’ll miss so much when your family is gone. So make holidays special and let them be about family and time together.
