"This desert holds a song…"

A desert. Dry, miserable, hot, unbearable. The cracked ground blows up dirt with each step you take. No one chooses to be in the desert. Let’s think of what would be considered the deserts of life. A death of a family member, financial struggle, pain, or maybe a long season of waiting.

What does your desert look like? For me, its a long season of waiting and trying to be patient. No matter what your desert looks like, what’s important is how you respond while you walk through that desert.

Meredith Andrews, a Christian recording artist has a song called Soar. Take a listen to it.

“This desert holds a song; I will sing, on and on. Your a river when the ground I walk is dry.”

That single phrase has spoken so much to my heart. When we face a season in the desert, the last thing on our minds is finding the song and still singing His praise. We want out, we want water, we want to be rescued, we want things to change…we rarely ever stop and find the reason of the desert or just stop and remember that He is always with us- even in the dry and seemingly lonely desert.

To me, the phrase “this desert holds a song” is reminding us that each season, even the dry weary desert ones, have a song. They have a message and a purpose. They have a reason to rejoice and to praise the Lord.

I feel like I am in the midst of a desert season right now. I’ll be honest, sometimes, the farthest thing from my mind is singing and thanking God. But every desert, every season, has a song…I just have to be willing to find it and trust God.

Do you think your desert holds a song? Do you continue to sing even in the midst of a desert or a valley? If you don’t, I hope you are encouraged to do so.

Gods timing is perfect and beautiful whether we see it or not. Those deserts we might be in could hold the greatest blessing or the greatest moment of clarity.

Some of the moments I have been closest to God is those desperate moments in the dry desert. I pray I never miss an opportunity to find the song in the most challenging places. I want to be known as someone who sings when the way seems tiring and long.

My prayer is that we find the song in the desert and we continue to sing no matter what we face.

Thank you. Sometimes I struggle to figure out what God has in store for me. Thank you for reminding me to be patient.
