First off friends, I am not a psychologist, counselor, doctor, pastor, etc. I have zero training in grief and mental health. All I am is a grieving girl who wants to use my pain to help others. I would never consider myself an expert and all my thoughts are based on my own experiences. Please never take anything I say as law. Always consult a doctor, counselor, pastor, etc. on hard matters like grief and mental health.
I wanted to start a series called “Grief and…” where I talk about how grief affects parts of life and how it intersects with our everyday lives. For instance, here are a few topics I’m working on for this series: “Grief and flashbacks,” “Grief and the realness of God,” and “Grief and your friends.” If you’ve never been through real grief, you will probably have no idea how much grief can influence your life. How it can work its way into the simplest aspect of your everyday life.
My goal for this series is two-fold for me…1). Hopefully, help someone out there grieving and show them the light of Christ even in those dark times and 2). Continue to process my own grief by doing the thing I love the most- writing.
This series won’t be for everyone, and that is okay. I feel God leading me to do this so I know someone out there must need it (even if it’s just me and my own personal journey). Some people will be sick of hearing about my grief journey and that is also okay. My prayer is that at some point, somewhere, this series will help someone who needs to hear it. If you’ve ever lost someone and struggled through grief, you’ll understand the deep need to find some good come out of your heartache.
Friends, I hope you will stay tuned for this series if it sounds like something that you would like to read. The first installment in the series should be up next week. I’m looking forward to walking through these difficult topics with you guys. Let me know in the comments if there is something specific you’d like me to talk about through this series and I’ll do my best to share.
