Hello to a new month! August is both an exciting month and a hard one. We are heading to Leaky Con next week (Yep, I’m a Harry Potter nerd) so we are getting a little getaway which is much needed. This month is also my dads birthday, obviously the first one without him. But we are getting the chance to be away on our getaway for his birthday.
Anyway! July was a fun month; I was able to try a lot of new makeup- most of which you can see on my makeup haul. But there will be a few repeats on here. The problem with hauls is you normally see repeats in favorites but that just shows how good the products are am I right?
Today let’s take a look into my favorites from July!
Beauty
Makeup Revolution Fast Base Stick Foundation $9.00
I don’t have words for how much I love this stick! The fastness and quality of this product are beyond my wildest expectations! The color is perfect, I have shade F3, and it blends out beautifully in a matter of seconds. I’ve heard that this is a dupe for the Hourglass stick foundation and I can’t comment on that because I haven’t tried the Hourglass but I honestly cannot imagine something better than this- especially for the price! It does feel a bit oily on my T zone right after application but as soon as I set it with powder it is just fine. I’ve used it a good amount of days already and I still have a great amount left. If you like doing makeup fast or something that is full coverage without being cakey or thick- definitely try this stick!
Makeup Revolution Conceal & Define Concealer $7.00
A comparison of this concealer VS Shape Tape will be up in a few weeks but so far, this is a pretty good concealer. It is much thinner than Shape Tape so it isn’t quite as full coverage but it blends extremely well. It isn’t greasy or oily and I don’t notice it creasing much at all. Typically all concealers will eventually crease on me just because of how my face is, but this one does a great job!
I use the shade C1 and it is the lightest shade in the range. I will say, I don’t think someone paler than I could use this as a brightening concealer. It is just pale enough for me to use but seeing as though it’s the lightest shade…not great for pale skin!
Covergirl Nudes TruNaked Eyeshadow Palette $12.99
Honestly, I’ve never been much of a Covergirl fan. I’m not a huge fan of the company itself and I have yet to really find a product I love from them. However- this eyeshadow palette is a great, simple eye look. This palette came in the Walmart Beauty Value Set and so I obviously thought I would give it a try.
Most of July, I focused on doing a very natural eye look. I did a lot of mainly crease colors to just add a bit of definition to my eyes. This is a perfect palette for that look! I will say I’m not a fan of the shimmer shadows but the mattes are brilliant.
Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush in Paaaaaarty $29
This cute little mini blush was from this months Sephora Play box so I haven’t used it too much yet. But it was too perfect not to share. I was not impressed when I first saw the color- it looks pretty boring! But when I applied it to my cheeks- I was amazed! For such a nude blush, it packs on a beautiful natural glow. Tarte really knows how to do blushes as well as mini products. This might have been a deluxe size but it is a great size compared to many peoples version of a deluxe size. The packaging is an A+ as well! It may look boring but it is my new favorite blush!
Music, Apps, & Netflix
iZombie
This show! I started it on a whim because the info sounded good. So glad I did! It is hilarious and entertaining. I’ve been enjoying light-hearted shows lately and this is a great one. It reminds me a little of a show from back in the day called Tru Calling where if the Medical Examiner touched a dead body she was able to go back and try to save them. This show is the same concept except its solving the case instead of going back. So the zombie eats a dead person brain and she gets visions of the victim which helps them solve the case! Sounds weird- but trust me, it’s good!
Also, for my One Tree Hill fans…one of the main characters is Clay from the last few seasons of OTH!
Pixel Art
The premise of this game seems silly- paint by numbers. But I have loved it this last month! You can color a picture from the many pages of archives they have or upload your own! I love to take colorful iPhone wallpapers and color them through the app. It is a fun and free app that I think all ages would enjoy.
It is a great distraction as well if you suffer from anxiety. Keeps your mind buys!
Elevation Worship
It’s an obsession really…I’m not sure how it took me this long to find Elevation but I believe it’s because God wanted me to find them right now. Their songs have done wonders in healing my heart from all the loss I’ve suffered this year. These people can write. The Holy Spirit is written into every song and these really tug at your heart. Their lyrics are real and passionate. I cannot get enough. Actually, next week I’ll be sharing my top 10 favorite songs of theirs so stay tuned!
Well, my favorites were not as many as typical! But there was still some awesome products I mentioned! Also, make sure you’ve seen my makeup haul because honestly, I could have included every single one of those items!
