Have you ever sat in bed, trying to sleep and you can’t turn your brain off? Maybe it’s been a rough day or you just need to spend a few minutes with Jesus before you move on with your day or fall asleep. Whatever the case, memorizing scripture is great for those moments that we need to focus our thoughts on Christ.
I’ve spent many long, dark drives and sleepless nights silently praying scripture over myself. They’re poetic cries from my heart to God even when I don’t speak them audibly.
Today I wanted to share a few verses that might encourage you. We all need to be encouraged sometimes. As much as I love talking about fiction and makeup, my heart is also to help you through tough times and encourage you. There’s no better words to comfort you then the Bible. So here are 4 of my favorite Bible verses.
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
I love this verse becomes many times we feel like it’s God that should come to us. We want more of Him but we don’t seek Him. This is a verse to live by; seek God with all your heart not just parts or not just when you need something.
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” 2 Timothy 1:7
Fear. If we aren’t careful, fear can overrule our lives. What’s easy to forget though is that fear is NOT from God. God gives us power, love, and sound mind. This is a powerful verse to pray over yourself when fear starts to take over.
“Because your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.” Psalms 63:3
Wow. What a powerful verse! His love truly is better than life. He’s better than anything this world can give us. Because of that, and because He sacrificed His son for us to have eternal life-our lips should praise Him. And not just when we need something, all the time!
“The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.” Exodus 14:14
Exodus 14:14 is probably my all time favorite verse. It’s in one of my favorite chapters of the Bible- when the Israelites are escaping from captivity in Egypt and out about to cross through the Red Sea. {I talk about this in another post called, You Split the Seas.} But how comforting is this verse?? We can’t face things alone…God will and does fight for us! And let me tell you, He’s more capable than I would be.
What are your favorite verses?? Let me know!
