Happy Blogmas! One of my favorite posts each year would have to be the devotional post. Each year I compile a few Youversion devotionals that will help us get our hearts ready as we prepare for the Christmas season. Advent is the arrival of a notable person or thing…so I would say the Advent of Jesus is one of the most important things in the world.
Make sure you have the Bible App so that you can easily access these devotionals! This isn’t sponsored- I just honesty love this app and all the devotionals they offer for free. I think this year, more than ever, we need to make sure we are taking time in God’s word and preparing out hearts for the real reason we celebrate Christmas. Most of my previous devotionals mentioned in previous years are still available so you can read those posts here.
6 YouVersion Devotionals for the Advent Season
Christmas: 25 Days of Peace
The plan “25 Days of Peace” is a great one to do when you are wanting to celebrate Advent. It’s 25 days long and provides a devotional and one passage of scripture for each day. If you start this one on December 1st, you’ll have a full devotion leading up to Christmas day. This devotional is a collection of various writers. As the title indicates, this plan is focused on peace. And let’s be honest, we can all use a little peace right now, right? Christmas time is a great time to be reminded that Jesus is the Prince of Peace. He came so that we might have peace. A few of the daily titles are the Gift of Peace, Peace Diffusers, Prayers and Peace, the House of Peace, and the Presence of Jesus. Join me as I also do this daily devotional as Christmas approaches.

Majesty in a Manger
This is a quicker 5-day devotional from Integrity Music. Each day has one passage of scripture along with the daily devotional. One reason I wanted to mention this one is because it seems to focus on the confounding nature of Jesus’ birth. He was a Majesty, but He was born in a Manger. This plan seeks to answer why it had to be that way. Unassuming but so incredibly important, His birth in that manger is what started it all. If It weren’t for His birth, we couldn’t have the crucifixion and resurrection. While this devotion only specifically lists one passage of scripture each day…the devotion mentions many other verses you could read if you wanted to dive deeper on your own.

Wonders of His Love
This plan is inspired by some of your favorite Christmas carols. Lauren Gaines brings some insight into the carols we sing during the season to help us prepare our hearts for Christmas. This 4-day devotional looks at “Joy to the World”, “O Come, O Come, Emmanuel,” “Deck the Halls,” and “O Holy Night.” One thing I loved about this plan is that it shares multiple passages of scripture, so you get a little more time in the actual Word.

The King is Coming
I chose this plan because I think now more than ever, we need to focus on the fact that Jesus will be coming again. Because He came and was born as a baby in a manger and died and rose again, we have the hope of the second coming. This plan helps us celebrate that as we approach the Christmas season. It is a 26-day plan that will take you all the way up to Christmas! The plan also walks us through both the Old Testament and New Testament readings about the second coming and Christmas.

A Weary World Rejoices: An Advent Study
I added this one in my post for two reasons: the name really drew me in (it’s been a weary 2020) and it has short devotionals perfect for busy days or to add to your current Bible reading. This plan is 26 days and it typically has one or two verses to read. The devotionals on a whole are much shorter than other studies so it’s great if you are just starting out. The reason I was drawn to this study because it will take you up to Christmas and the idea of our weary soul’s rejoicing is exactly what this world needs. The plan seems perfect for getting into the Word and preparing our hearts for the true reason for the season.

Prayers for Christmas
Perfect for my distracted friends! Sometimes when I’m first waking up or heading to bed I like to do a devotional to calm me…however sometimes I’m still waking up and can’t read or concentrate well. This plan is 5-days of audio clips which allow you to listen to it. It’s 5 prayers that are around 3 minutes long and a little snippet of devotion to read beforehand. I love these audio plans because it allows me another way to study and get my heart centered on where it needs to be. Sometimes when my mind is wandering it’s hard to sit and read but listening to it is so much easier! This plan is just simple prayers spoken over our lives as we prepare for Christmas.

Christmas can quickly become a busy and overwhelming time of year. It’s so easy to focus on the secular parts of the holiday that we forget why we even celebrate in the first place. We celebrate because Jesus was born in a manger, lived a perfect life, died, and rose again- all for us. The baby born in a lowly manger was our redemption and took on our sin so we could have eternal life. I hope these YouVersion devotionals help prepare your heart for the season. And if you don’t know Jesus, I hope these YouVersion devotionals might stir something in you. Merry Christmas friends and I hope my blogmas brings you a little joy this season.
