Last week, I shared 5 of my favorite verses that I have memorized. Today is still about Bible verses but these are ones I am working to memorize.
I am really trying to buckle down and spend more time in the Word and that includes memorizing verses as well. Today’s world is so full of negativity and false prophets that it is vital to stay connected to the world. So today is all about encouraging and challenging myself and maybe you as well.
Psalm 18:1 I love You, oh Lord my strength
We are nothing apart from Christ…weak and lowley; but with Christ we have strength. This verse is such a potent reminder that God is our strength and even more than that…He is all we need. If you need a comforting verse, memorize this one. There’s no greater comfort than knowing the Lord is all powerful and our stronghold.
Hebrews 6:15 “And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.”
If you’ve been keeping up with me, you know that for the last year I have been in a season of waiting. Waiting for the right job, waiting for a husband, waiting…I recently found this verse and was just awestruck by how timely to my life it is. While I’m not as exciting or important as Abraham, I’m trying to wait patiently; knowing that in the end, I will receive everything the Lord has promised for my life.
The other important point from this verse is that we need to make sure everything we are waiting for is what God wants for our lives. We need to be seeking what God has promised and not what we want for ourselves.
Psalm 91:1 “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.”
What a beautiful picture. We can rest in the shadow of the Almighty. The heavenly creator of all things allows us to dwell in His shelter…in His hands. This verse is a great comfort and I’m trying to memorize it as well.
Isaiah 41:10 “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
I have known this verse for years but never can seem to memorize the whole thing. Once again, I am so thankful for the comfort and knowledge that scripture brings. This verse is so powerful for times of trouble and times of chaos. He will uphold us. Just like the first verse, it is so comforting to know that God will and can comfort us and keep us safe.
What other verses should I memorize? Give me some ideas down below!
