Beauty Blogger Tag

Happy Makeup Monday! Let’s start off our week with a fun post! Today I am doing the “Beauty Blogger Tag!” I was inspired by Christina’s Chic Corner after I read her post of this tag as well, so make sure you head to her post as well!

I honestly love tag posts! It is a fun and informal way to get to know the blogger and just answer some fun questions! I have don a few tag’s in the past, but not a beauty blogger one! So here we go:

1.) What is your natural hair color? Do you dye it yourself or go to a salon?

My natural hair color is a mid-to-dark brown color. I feel like it is right in the middle but closer to dark if I had to guess. I do dye my hair, not all the time, but when I get an itch for something different. I do both salon and at home. If it is just a plain one color, I usually do it myself to save money. But if it is a harder color, highlights, any bleaching…I go to the salon! It honestly just depends on what I want and how much money I have at the time.

2.) How often do you wash your hair?

I used to have really oil hair, but I don’t now. So I aim for two to three times a week. Sometimes more and sadly…maybe sometimes less?? My hair seems to do better when it isn’t washed every day.

3.) Will you leave the house without makeup?

Yes! While I don’t have perfect skin, there are so many times I just don’t want to bother with makeup! Especially if I’m just running to the store or something. While sometimes I may feel self-conscious about it–I still do it!

4.) How long does it take you to do your makeup?

Honestly depends on the look I am going for that day. Just a simple every day look no more than probably 15 minutes, if that. But if I am doing a bigger look or for a special occasion I take my time and could probably use up two hours! I don’t like to have to rush!

5.) Do you read the comments on your posts?

Absolutely! That’s one of the best parts of blogging is getting feedback and getting to connect with readers. I try to read and respond quickly too.

6.) What camera do you use for your photos?

Either my Nikon D3100 or even just my iPhone. I prefer my Nikon obviously but sometimes it is just too much trouble for a little photo or two.

7.) What skin type do you have?

Who knows really. Most of the time I have oily skin, but lately I have had oily cheek bones and a dry dry dry forehead! I usually air on the side of oily though, because that seems to be what I am most of the time.

8.) What is your current facial cleanser?

I am currently using the Ole Henriksen Oil Control Cleanser. But I also love the Clean and Clear foaming cleanser as well.

9.) Do you have freckles?

Not really! A few on my arms but that’s about it. I do have a few beauty marks/moles that tend to look like freckles though.

10.) What is your favorite eye-shadow color?

Yikes! That is a hard one. I love grey, so versatile. Anything shimmery. I also love a purple eye look.

11.) How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?

Oh, probably every day!

12.) Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?

Both! I usually use a pencil on the bottom and a liquid on the top. I have a hard time using a pencil on the top lashes! They’re too rough. And liquid on bottom is a nightmare.

13.) What is your favorite lipstick?

Currently YSL Rouge Volupte! They are so moisturizing and so easy to apply.  But I am also loving Lipsense too!

14.) Name a makeup crime that you hate.

Foundation that is too dark!! I have when you/my neck doesn’t match the face…but it is something every one does! It is hard to perfectly match your skin unless you test it well.

15.) Do you like drugstore makeup?

Oh yes!! I use a good amount of drugstore makeup. They have some great quality stuff!

What would your answers be?? Let me know in the comments!

My quick and easy makeup tips!

Let’s face it, we don’t always have a few hours to make slowly get on our makeup all while dancing to our favorite tunes. Sometimes, we have, maybe, five minutes to throw on something to make us look semi-alive in the morning.

Over the years, I’ve gathered my own tips and tricks to help you when your in a rush but want to do a quick and easy makeup look. Now these are just my ideas-and I’m no expert. But I thought it would be fun to share my tips and maybe give you a few ideas to help you next time you hit “snooze” one to many times.

Tip #1 – smudge pots are your best friend

Every brand has a name for it: smudge pot, paint pot, cream gels…its all one in the same. Basically it’s a cream eye-shadow in a pot. If you’re in a hurry, these help make a quick but beautiful eye look! On busy days (or lazy ones) I slap on the smudge pot all over my lid and simply blend it out. One color, one products, and one step- it’s that easy.

Some of my favorite smudge pots are actually from elf- super cheap! Below is a picture of my look with just a elf smudge pot on my eyes! So simple but looks great!

Tip #2 – forget the contour

Maybe you love contour but for me, it’s something I don’t mind dropping from my makeup routine if I’m in a hurry. Most of my “makeup wearing” years have been spent having no clue what contouring even was so it’s never a bad thing to just forget this and just go for blush.

Don’t get me wrong, I love contouring but it’s not an absolute essential for me. If you’re in a hurry don’t be afraid to just do foundation and blush on the face!

Tip #3 – try a full coverage powder foundation

My routine is normally a liquid foundation, concealer, and a finishing powder to set it. But if I’m in a hurry I don’t mind grabbing a one step powder foundation. One of my favorites is the Clinique SuperPowder Double Face! Most of the time I prefer a fuller coverage liquid but when I’m in a hurry, a powder foundation might be all I have time for; just apply to the whole face and you’ll get some much needed coverage. All while still being fast and easy!

Tip #4 – Mascara is your best friend

My lashes are one of my favorite features and I try not to neglect them even on a rushed morning. If you’re anything like me, a little mascara can do wonders for you. I might be extremely tired, but mascara always seems to brighten and perk up my face! It makes my eyes seem awake.

Slap on mascara as you walk out the door or in the car and you are set to go! I’m a believer that there is always time for a little mascara.

Tip #5 – Don’t be afraid to go natural

While I love makeup and looking put together and fresh, I don’t wear it 24/7. If I am running late, just running to the store, or don’t feel like it…I go without makeup at all! Most of us are a little uncomfortable about that, but if I am taking good care of my skin and getting some sleep-then I am much more confident in my own skin.

Never feel like you HAVE to put on makeup when you’re in a rush or just not up to doing it. Be confident in yourself and wear that bare skin proudly! Makeup isn’t what makes you beautiful friends, don’t forget that.

Top products from 2016

2017 is just a few short weeks away, and it is so hard to believe. This year has flown by, but it has been a great one for W&W! One monumental accomplishment was 12 months (once I do December’s after Christmas) of monthly favorites!

This year has been full of amazing products that have rocked my world and made life so much easier and more exciting. From makeup remover to the best foundation I have ever used, 2016 was one for the books as far as beauty products go!

In honor of a new year, I thought I would recap all my absolute top products from 2016 for ya’ll! These are noteworthy products that came out or I first tried this year and have loved every since. Also, these photos might look familiar to you!

Garnier Micellar Water

This has really been a game changer is skin care and makeup removal. Two cotton rounds with this water and my makeup is gone with no tugging and leaving my skin feeling hydrated and cool.

Conair Infiniti Curling Wand

I took a long time to hop on the curling wand bandwagon, but once I did, I haven’t jumped off since. I love this thing! It was under $20 and is such great quality. I can curl my whole head (full of THICK hair) in no time with this wand. And I love that it has the descending size to get tighter curls near the bottom.

Arbonne Perfecting Liquid Foundation

2016 was a year full of trial foundations. I used this mostly in 2015 and the beginning of 2016, but when I ran out, I thought I would try some drugstore ones. Long story short, I’m back to this foundation and couldn’t be happier. By far, the best foundation I have used to date. Great coverage, easy to blend, and so smooth and healthy on your skin.

Real Technique Brushes and Sponge

Ya’ll know how much I love the Real Techniques brand…they make extremely affordable and amazing quality brushes and sponges. I am so glad I found them this year because I really think they have changed my makeup game for the better. I feel professional with such a little amount of money spent. The Expert Face Brush, Blush Brush, Powder Brush, and the Miracle Sponge…all staples from 2016 in my makeup bag.

Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette

Gwen Stefani’s palette with Urban Decay has been my most used palette of the year. I bought it with Christmas money last December and have consistently used it all year long. My everyday eye look is completely in this palette! There is a good mix of shimmer and matte colors. The shadows themselves are buttery and blendable. I love the feel of them on my eyes. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find one online still, but there may still be some for sale out there.

Holan Ultrasonic Cool Diffuser

While this came later in the year, essential oil diffusing has really changed my year! I am all about diffusing oil’s now. This diffuser was from Amazon and has various colors as well as continuous or intermittent sprays. I use this alllll the time now. I need one for every room!

Olay Complete all day moisturizer (for sensitive skin)

I have been using this moisturizer for a whole year and it is still my favorite to date. I’ve had really sensitive skin the last few years and this has been perfect for me. It’s so gentle and soothing on my skin! I highly recommend it to anyone needing a good affordable moisturizer.

What were your holy grail products this year?? Can’t wait to hear yours!

October beauty wish list

Good afternoon friends and readers! I’ve been daydreaming about some new beauty products so I thought I would share a few of them with you!

Christmas is coming soon and most of these items are on my list! If I had all the money in the world, I would already have purchased all these products because they look amazing! Here’s a peek into my current beauty wish list!

Tarte color wheel blush palette (limited edition)

Every color of blush you could ever dream of is on this palette. Roses, pinks, corals, etc are all in this gorgeous palette from Tarte. I also love Tarte’s blush and their formula; such great pigmentation and so soft on the skin. It’s limited edition so I’m hoping I can get my hands on it before it goes away!

New-trals vs. neutrals palette by Makeup Revolution

Look at those colors! I’m in love with Makeup Revolution eyeshadow palettes; they’re so buttery and have great pigmentation. I’m sure this palette is just as good! I love the blush tones and nudes in this palette.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit in Surreal Light

Hello, beautiful! I’ve wanted to dive into some Hourglass products for a while but the cost is always so high! This is no different, it’s a holiday exclusive for $80 but you get some of everything! It contains 2 blushes, finishing powder, a bronzer, and a highlighter. The packaging alone looks worth the price! I’ve already sent this item to Santa. 😉

Miracle Diamond Sponge by Real Techniques

You know I love RT brushes and I’m sure their sponges are just as great. I love the look of this sponge! How girly and exciting is this sponge?? It has so many sides and uses that’s it’s extremely versatile and handy to have around! I’m hoping Ulta gets them soon.

Smashbox X-rated mascara

I received a sample of this in my Ipsy a few months ago and have fallen in love with it. I’m extremely picky about mascara and this one meets my requirements! It lengthens, volumizes, and is easy to remove. I am really contemplating just picking this up for myself because I love it so much!

My Summer Beauty Essentials

I’m still so happy to be back blogging again! Here in OK, summer feels like it’s been here for a month…but it technically starts TODAY! If you’ve never been to Oklahoma it’s hot like Arizona and almost as humid as Florida (some of the time). The days from June-August average probably 95-100, or hotter.

In honor of the first official day, I wanted to share my beauty summertime essentials! While most of my products are the same all year round, I have a few summer secrets and essentials to show you.

{I’ll share my overall essentials and show you what I use specifically as well.}

First up, Quality Makeup Remover Wipes.

I use Neutrogena wipes and they are by far my favorite. Just wet enough that I don’t have to scrub to hard.  In the summer, it’s essential to have a good remover wipe! You get sweaty, dirty, and often have pool chemicals on your face. It’s so important to be sure you get all your makeup off. And it’s refreshing to wipe off your face with a cool wipe.

Secondly, A good pair of sunglasses!

I purchased these cute shades from a store here called Versona. They were only $10 and they’re so cute! Summer is sunny and bright; I can’t go anywhere without sunglasses here- so i’d say they’re essentials for me.

Next up, Arbonne Gelée.

You might be asking, “what in the world is Gelée?” Well let me tell ya! Gelée is a incredibly body product that is my holy grail. Got bug bites? Sore muscles? Sunburn? Aches? Use Gelée! It’s a cooling gel that you can put on any of the problems I listed above. It smells like limes and summer; it’s perfect to use at all times but especially summer. If you’re interested in more info, leave me a comment! I’m really allergic to certain bug bites and this is my saving grace during the summer months. To buy it, click here.

Next up, a good body splash to keep in your purse.

I mentioned this body spray in my May Favorites. It’s Hello Beautiful from Bath & Body Works. A body splash is key to keeping fresh in the hot summer months! I keep this spray in my purse at all times; you never know when you need to freshen up! The Oklahoma heat makes anyone sweat so I really like to keep some kind of spray with me so that I can always smell good.

Lastly, a bright lip color!

I always love to rock a bright lip color; especially in summer. I have many (and I mean many) vivid colors to pick from during summer. A current favorite is this Fuschia Vivid Matte Liquid from Maybeline! A bold lip is always a summer essential.

Do you have any summer essentials?? Let me know in the comments!
