On a crisp, beautiful fall morning my mom, aunt, and I headed out on an adventure. The perk of having no full-time job is the fact that I get to take part in these random, spur of the moment adventures with friends and family.
My aunt is known for finding these amazing little places that we need to try out: a classy hotel in Sulphur, a fried pie run, a cool store in the city…you name it and we tend to find it. This day we were on a mission to find a cute and country little store called The Farmer’s Daughter Market.
The Farmer’s Daughter Market is on main street in the little Oklahoma town of Tecumseh. In the middle of old buildings mixed in with newer businesses stands the wooden gem of FDM. This store is unique; with sections of bakery, home decor, kitchen staples, and two restaurants. I love the aspect of community; this is a place where several different businesses coexist and compliment each other.
The bakery has pies, cakes, and yummy cookies. The home decor is full of fresh lotions, soaps, and unique home decorations. The kitchen staples area was full of fresh bread, salsas, honey, and so much more.
We had lunch in the Tomato Patch Cafe, and it was impressive. Home style food mixed with some new and great twists. I had a bacon grilled cheese with a peach jalapeno jam. I loved that you could have glass bottled drinks. I have loved those my whole life!
One thing I love about this store was how rustic it is. There is a working bathtub near the restaurant area for you to wash up for your meal! I love the home feel that makes you feel comforted from the moment you step foot into the store.
If you’re ever in Oklahoma, make sure you take time to stop by this little gem! Grab a yummy meal, some lotion, and fresh bread all in one stop.
What is your favorite small town gem?? let me know! XO
