I’m a college student. I’ve spent 4 year in college trying to get to graduation and the semester I’m supposed to graduate I’m thrown for a loop. Rule change- I can no longer “walk” in graduation with outstanding credits. So I am now considered an August 1st grad. But I don’t get to participate in graduation until December. To say this hurt, would be an understatement.
I was focusing on the date more than the degree and the accomplishment. Who cares when I get to walk across the stage and smile for the cameras. Either way, I’m still graduating. Come August first I will be a COLLEGE GRADUATE and that’s good enough for me.
While it hurts when I see my friends getting ready for graduation, I am still happy for myself. I’m still proud of myself. I still deserve to celebrate come August-I will have made it-just in a few more weeks longer than I thought.
I’m excited to see where life takes me…it’s hard to image a life not in school. But I’m very excited! I can’t wait to (hopefully) be working a job that I love.
So for those that took longer than the “normal” 4 years in college to graduate- I applaud you. Way to go. You graduated, and that’s all that matters.
